FIGHTING Against the Import of Design Patent-Infringing Goods —> Nike is fuelling the fire for Counterfeit Goods Seizure Act of 2019.
Setting the precedent for the future of Fashion brands and punishing brands behaving badly?
A question that designers have long asked governments —> take a stand and step-up the game…. take control of the Counterfeit market.
With FAKE items looking so good these days and people actually knowing that they are buying a piece of “fake fashion” what will this new legislation do? Who will benefit is the question? Let me answer that for you:
Designers will reap the rewards as they will no longer feel the threat of counterfeit crews swooping a slice of their profits—>that is not being greedy either.. lets face it would you want your brand or products to be copied? Some would say it’s insulting the brand, and yet others will argue that it is affordable and damn right brilliantly copied..
Predominantly the high-end-luxury-fashion Brands will applaud this hardcore move, as too the top end sports brands who are seriously feeling the crushing from counterfeiting.. Yet the middle-person “consumers” on a tight budget, wanting to feed their needs {looking good-and why not} by living out of their overdrafts in the current climate of salaries not being increased and the demands of working in the same wage yet cost of living is eating away at a lot of people. To be then subjected too high priced fashion items that are forever increasing, the counterfeit products are fast becoming acceptable..
Will other countries “cat walk” down this runway too?! Interesting.. drop me a comment I welcome your thoughts on this:
